Fishing this new year's eve afternoon with PG for trout and spottails. No redfish today, but we had a good catch of trout. We let quite a few go today under the size limit, but we caught 4 nice ones (one is already cleaned and not in the picture). These lucky ones will be released into the frying pan new year's day. We tried several areas, but our only catches were in Shelter Cove Harbor. There were lots of boats fishing there today, and PG and I showed them how it was done! Beautiful afternoon. All fish were caught on artificials with most caught on a plastic shrimp.

Fishing on the T/T My Time. It looks like Cali, Laura, Trey and Pepi like the new inshore ride. So does DG. A chance to unwind in the afternoons after another week of struggling with this economy. RELAX! and GO FISHING!

A very nice 1900V Pathfinder, inshore shallow water flats boat. Great for inshore fishing. Come on Down and fish for red fish, trout, tarpon, and cobia!

Great fishing trip to Everglades City and Chokolosee residing at the great Parkway Motel and Marina. Geri and Bill, owners of the motel, were very gracious hosts, and very organized. They provided us with great local advice, and they're just nice folks. Trip was filled with great fishing, memories, and experiences. Catching lots of Red fish, snook, many trout, a few small tarpon (missing a monster tarpon in the 150 to 180 lb class that just about chased me off the bow of Paul's 17 foot War Eagle boat without warning), and many, many lady fish. The everglades is a wonderful place for backwater fishing on oyster beds and in the mangroves. The trip consisted of fishing Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Our best fishing was of course Monday the day AKR and son had to head back early. We lost count of the red fish, but Monday, I landed the largest of my catch on 20lb worn out leader with 17 lb test (see photo at bottom).

One of the absolute best parts of the trip can be seen in part of our 1.3 mile trek through the everglades with our guide Captain Larry Demere and Grandson on Saturday by blazing a trail through the mangroves with chainsaw in hand to a pristine group of lagoons (Paul caught a monster snook in one of those:photos later). This was a lifetime experience that is only enjoyed by a few. Thank you AKR for setting this one up! Check out the videos.







Paul and I forgot our lunch back at the motel on Monday and we recognized that fact after we were way too far from port for a quick ride back, but made due with a quick fire and mangrove smoked red fish which was completely satisfying and in the top 3 fish I've ever eaten, and the view could not have been better from the beach.



Thanks to Still Playin for showing us their new favorite spot to fish, it was a great time. We can now show them next time a great place to eat we explored Monday night after their early departure (hint).

Fishing on the Good to Go! Left the Bluffton ramp at around 8:00 with engines in gear, poggies in the well swimming at 8:30 and off to R-7 to catch a monster "reef donkey", then on to the snapper banks, and later R-8 for another donkey. Pretty slow fishing. I hooked into 1 snapper but lost it in bottom structure. As you can see by the photo, it was beautiful for September and fun was had by all! This is the offshore fishing doldrums this time of the year in September. The water is around 80, and nothing much going on except an alge bloom in many areas. Caught some bait at R-8 (small jacks about 4 inches long and some greenies at R-7). Back at the house after boat cleaning at around 6:30 on the go fast boat.

We had an intruder in the River Club last night at 12:00 Midnight 8.8.2010. He walked down our dock and attempted to steal our Sea Doo and then entered our boat. After a while, he left the boat and dock and apparently exited towards the street. We have attached a link to a video recording of the man from the helm of our boat. There are additional recordings from other locations at our house, dock and boat of the intrusion which we will share with authorities.

Beautiful Saturday Sunset Evening Cruise Hunting for Bottle-nose Dolphin at Hilton Head. The kids and parents alike had a great time and we were visited by a mother and her baby calf.

Trying out some new on-board camera set-ups to catch the fishing action ... hopefully we'll see some SOON! You guessed it. The storm strike took out a camera so I did an upgrade. We've got 5 cameras. One at the Helm, 2 in the cockpit (port and stbd), one view from the salon, and one of the engine room. All viewable from the helm and all recording MPEG video continuously. Big Daddy's watchin! (Viewing the video... I didn't realize how much movement I experience while driving the boat....no wonder I'm sore some days)

Laura and I went fishing at the Tire Reef off Hilton Head over Memorial Day weekend, but she didn't feel too well and we didn't catch much.

Fishing on Mother's Day for Cobia! 4 Bonnet Heads, One 4 feet long! Beautiful weather. High of 72.

First trip on PG's new speed boat the Plum Good. We left Colleton River ramp around 4:45 and headed to the ledge at 300 feet. We heard some talk of fish at the South Ledge, but of course we were 15 miles North East of today's hot spot and out past the Deli. We made the best of it by loosing some early dolphin, but bagging 4 good meals and running the usual 6 or so line on planers, down-rigger, and flat lines. We really mixed it up and worked many slicks with a slew of boats out there on a flat Friday. Seas were 1 ft and the speed boat easily ran a little under 40 mph. We worked our way back in to the beginnings of a weed line and pull a couple of nice dolphins there and at around 12 we decided to run to our favorite spot for cubera snapper. The bite was on with ballyhoo and a bag of chum. This really made the trip special for me today. The first bite ripped me into the structure and I couldn't stop him. The second I used a special hook from Paul and I promptly straightened the hook. The third and fourth the hook didn't set with an over-sized circle hook (an attempt to rectify the earlier mistake) and the fifth laded in the boat while putting full pressure on the spool. This is my largest snapper to date and was a beauty of a fight. Ran in from the Tug at 2:30 to the ramp in a chop to arrive at 4:30 or so. Cleaned fish and dinner at McNairs.

Making progress on the My Time with electronic replacement including this new Garmin display and a new 36 mile HD radar. Pepi and I went out fishing for an early cobia bite this afternoon. Didn't have much luck, but we really enjoyed the weather!

Fishing yesterday on the Plumb-Good. Well actually we don't know what to call PGP's boat yet, but it will GO FAST! We left Colleton River ramp about 8:00 and traveled to the Beaufort 45, then to the Ross. It was a little choppy on the way out, but beautiful on the way in. A great sea trial for the boat. I managed to catch a skip jack about 12 lbs casting a little greenie top water from schools which were surfacing near the boat. Great fun. A few bottom bites, but not much else. On the way back we came in at about 40 mph and hit the ramp at 4:00 pm. A little rain in the AM and at the dock. Great to be on the water. (See boat photo below)

Heritage Golf Tournament Sunday off Harbour Town and a nice family outing on the water!

Fishing on the Playin thru in Palm Beach, Sailfish Marina February 12th, 13th, and 14th with Kevin, Andrew, Kyle, Tom, Trey, and David. Laura came along for a horse show trip at Wellington Fla. She had a great time and we saw her early, and at dinner, the rest of the time she was at the show.

We fished Saturday inshore, and offshore from 4:00 until 5:30 or so, then again Sunday morning, and a trip at 4:00 again Sunday afternoon. Saturday, we had a double sail catch while flying 1 kite, 1 flat, and 1 deep with live goggle-eyes. Sunday, we caught 2 dolphin and 1 sail in the morning trip while fishing 2 kites, 1 flat and 1 deep. All hits were on the kites.
