Spanish Cay... Our new favorite place. Great People, quiet, good fishing, nice facilities, great food, and it's in the Bahamas.

Typical Evening UNO Fun!

Mermaid Reef Snorkling trip this afternoon was fun for all. Many types of fish were seen on this small reef just outside of Marsh Harbour. Including a large school of Ballyhoo which kept looking at us to feed them. Even some of the moms went into the water! Fun afternoon, as the morning was consumed with our delayed departure and finding rooms and slips for boats due to the approaching Alberto tropical storm.

Saturday, Dolphin in the chum slick. Charlotte caught her first big fish. He came right up in our bottom fishing chum slick and we fed him a piece of mullet. What a great show and fun battle on a small calcutta reel/rod combination. Kevin tied a quick rig for the catch, and David gaffed the 19 lb fish. A beautiful day off the Lighthouse at Hope Town.

Friday's adventures started around 11:00 when we departed for our favorite picnic island. All the kids traveled on the My Time, which was anchored out while all the food, beverages, and grill were transported to the island just in time for a major windy squall. Fun! Great food! Wet time.

We returned to the dock around 4:30 or so, and once at the house, showered and ready for dinner, the sky clears and becomes beautiful at 6:00 PM. We decide it's time to go tuna fishing out of Taloo. We're fishing by 6:30 in a mess of birds and apparant tuna activity. Great sunset, no strikes... too much grass on the lures. Back at the house by 8:45 to cook steaks on the grill. Great day, Great friends and family times. It's now 5:30 AM Saturday, and there was alot of talk about going tuna fishing at "First Light"... but no one else is up to go! What a surprise.

Thursday we waited for some storms to pass during the day created from a Noreaster which caused a band of moisture off the East Coast of US through the Bahamas, Cuba, and Mexico.... however this did not stop us from having another wonderful day in the Bahamas.... what a beautiful place this is. We finally departed from the dock with Trey, Kyle, Andrew, Tom-Tom, Kevin and David to enjoy an evening on the reef around Johnny's Cay. It was blowing from the East a bit, so this area was really flat and enjoyable. We started the chum behind the "Playin Thru"and before we knew it, fish were in a feeding frenzy behind the boat in only 10 feet of water. Grouper, yellow tail, parrot fish, and many other species. The kids and dads had a wonderful time on the water to finish up with an unbelievable sunset. It reminded me of the time with the O'Briens off Fowl cay years ago after an evening cook-out at Fowl Cay. Great time, Great families, and Great Location.

Wednesday we had another wonderful day on the water for some of us..... others decided to stay back, swim in the pool, search for sea glass, and go shopping in town. However for Laura, Alex, Kevin and David, it was a beautiful day bottom fishing on the 100-500 ft ledge, and then in shallow at 25 feet for tons of yellow tail snapper. After hooking a beautiful snapper at the deep drop, the sharks and other toothy critters chased us and the other fish outa there. The fish were showing up in our chum slick in a feeding frenzy. Out on the water at 10:00 and back by 4:00.

Tuesday, we all went fishing on the My Time 10:30 ish until around 4:30. The winds switched around from the West, and that's not good for the fishing. We did see lots and lots of small blackfin tuna, but we only had one good bite.... very slow, and the captain felt really bad for those that may have been a little bored. We did have some immediate light headedness and folks not feeling too well when we arrived south of Taloo to fish a spot we caught the 2 marlin, but we only stayed there a few minutes, as a few folks were not feeling well. We trolled back to the inlet, and worked the edge the whole way with no luck. A beautiful day on the water, just no fish. It was as smoothe as a lake. The girls even participated in the tackle clean-up as shown in the photo. Special cheers goes to the work of Kevin, Charlotte, Pepi and especially Laura for all her help with docking and cleaning up the boat..... and especially too...Donna for taking care of Kyle.

Sunday afternoon snorkling and having fun on the My Time at Fowl Cay Reef...... great fun for the kids, and adults!!!!

Sunday we left the docks around 7:00 and ended up running from storms until we settled into a nice fishing pattern around 10:00. 1st marlin was boated after a nice fight for Kevin of about an hour or so on standup tackle. Fish was estimated at around 200 lbs. After we celebrated the catch and release boatside, we proceeded back to the same area to hook a second marlin within 5 minutes of setting the lines back out.... Tom then had the next battle with a marlin estimated at 100 lbs.... what a fight it was too... this fish danced all over the ocean before reaching boatside in about 30 minutes. Great time with a fantastic fish, and great friends off a beautiful place in the Bahamas.....

Day one fishing for only 3 hours off Hopetown Lighthouse we managed to catch 5 out of 6 nice dolphin fish, and one nice wahoo. Great day on the water as you can see by this fellowship of fishermen.

A beautiful place to be. And now we have fish for the week!
